BARRIO (The Garnette Report) – On Sunday, November 19th, Colombian superstar Karol G performed a medley of three songs at the Billboard Music Awards, or the BBMAs. She performed “QLONA” featuring Peso Pluma, OJOS FERRARI, and an unreleased track from Kali Uchis’ upcoming album, ORQUÍDEAS. The new single, titled “Labios Mordidos,” translates directly to “bitten lips.”

The song features a pop flow with reggaeton beats, making for an already catchy song. The song, accompanied by a music video, will release at 12 A.M. Eastern on Friday, November 24th. As for the rest of the album, it’s unclear if Uchis will drop another single this year after Friday. Her new album comes out January 12th, 2024.

Uchis expressed her deep admiration for Karol in an Instagram story several days ago, mentioning how grateful she is to work with someone she has looked up to as an artist and fellow Colombian. Recently Karol G finished the US leg of her Mañana Sera Bonito tour and will be touring in Latin America as well as Europe. Moreover, she won three Latin Grammys. She received Album of the Year, Best Urban Fusion/Performance, and Best Urban Music Album.

After another successful tour, Uchis began to tease the release of her new album by performing a now-released song titled “Te Mata.” Her latest album, Red Moon in Venus, was mostly sung in English with Spanish words throughout some songs. According to Uchis, her next album will be almost completely in Spanish. Uchis is not new to the bilingual music game, and has twice as big as an audience than Latin artists who choose to stick to one or the other. Songs like “Moonlight” and “Telepatia” are proof that you don’t need to sing fully in one language to have a hit song. Until its release, her audience will decide if “Labios Mordidos” becomes another viral hit.
