BARRIO – Saskia Sorrosa, originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, is the founder of Fresh Bellies, AND, most of her investors are all Latin and BIPOC. Such a BOSS. Her brand is ranked among the Top 5 natural toddler snacks in the USA.

Inspired by childhood obesity, Fresh Bellies was launched in 2016. They basically create healthy snacks geared towards kids. Recently they’ve expanded into an adult line as well.

Seeking funding, Sorrosa went on “Shark Tank” to ask for $275,000 in exchange for a 5%. The Sharks weren’t interested, but it wasn’t the end of Fresh Bellies. In fact, Sorrosa used that as motivation to make it. According to Shark Tank Blog, Fresh Bellies was selling its products in over 9,000 stores such as Walmart and Kroger in January 2020. In June 2021, the company’s annual revenue was approximately $6 million!

Whether you’re an entrepreneur or you’re considering becoming an investor, Sorrosa has a bit of advice: “My message to Latinas out there who are thinking about taking a risk or starting their own hustle and are wondering whether it’s the right time, my message is this: there is never a ‘right’ time — there is only right now. Believe in yourself, stay true to your purpose and move in the direction of your dreams, one step at a time. You have everything it takes to make it happen for you!
