The nominees for the 2026 Ballon d’Or are officially out — and Latin America is well represented.

France Football revealed the 30 finalists for the biggest individual award in world soccer, with stars from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico making the shortlist.

Argentina is represented by Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martínez, while Brazil has Vinícius Júnior, Gabriel Magalhães and Marquinhos among the nominees.

Colombia’s Luis Díaz earns a nomination following a massive season with Bayern Munich, while Ecuadorian defender Willian Pacho makes the prestigious list after another impressive year with Paris Saint-Germain.

Mexico is also represented by Julián Quiñones.

Who Are the Favourites?

The Latin American stars face some serious competition.

Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Rodri and defending winner Ousmane Dembélé are also among the 30 finalists.

One major name missing from the list is Cristiano Ronaldo, who was not nominated this year.

Latin America Is Represented Beyond the Men’s Award

There are also plenty of Latin American and Caribbean names elsewhere in this year’s awards.

Mexico’s Scarlett Camberos and Brazil goalkeeper Lorena are among the Women’s Ballon d’Or nominees, while Jamaica’s Khadija “Bunny” Shaw also makes the shortlist.

Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez is nominated for the Yashin Trophy, while Brazilian powerhouse Flamengo is among the nominees for Men’s Club of the Year.

Mexico’s Club América is also nominated for Women’s Club of the Year.

The winners will be revealed at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony on October 26.

From Argentina and Brazil to Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and the Caribbean, Latin America will have plenty to cheer for when the biggest individual awards in world soccer are handed out.
