Ecuadorian traveler Ivette Martínez traded a stable career as a flight attendant for a life of adventure on the open road. After moving to Australia in 2017 to study hospitality and tourism, she discovered camper culture while backpacking and traveling across the country. What started as a temporary experience quickly became a life-changing passion, eventually leading her to buy and customize her own motorhome, “Gitana.”
In July 2025, Ivette officially began her journey along the Pan-American Highway with the dream of driving from Latin America all the way to Alaska. Along the way, she has traveled through more than eight countries, sharing both the beauty and challenges of solo travel as a woman. She openly speaks about the importance of safety, careful planning, and resilience after facing difficult moments, including major mechanical problems in Mexico that temporarily stopped her journey.
One of the most emotional moments of her travels came when she rescued Mar, a three-legged stray dog she met near the border of Nicaragua and Honduras. Unable to leave the dog behind, Ivette paid for months of veterinary treatment before eventually reuniting with her and continuing the journey together. Mar quickly became an important part of the adventure and helped Ivette’s social media following grow significantly.
Today, Ivette continues documenting her travels while proudly representing Ecuador and inspiring others to chase a life driven by freedom, purpose, and adventure.
