Movie tickets for five bucks? In 2026? We’ll take it.
Cineplex is bringing back its $5 Weekend promotion on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, offering $5 general admission movie tickets at participating theatres across Canada.
And because a cheap movie isn’t complete without popcorn, small popcorns will also be just $5.
The promotion is designed as an end-of-summer movie weekend, giving Canadians a chance to catch some of the season’s biggest releases for significantly less than the usual ticket price.
Premium experiences including IMAX, UltraAVX, D-BOX, 4DX, ScreenX, 3D and VIP can also be booked by paying the applicable upgrade fee.
The $5 ticket price applies to purchases made in theatres. Online tickets can cost up to $6.50 plus tax because of booking fees.
A portion of proceeds from the weekend will also support Canadian Picture Pioneers, a charity that provides financial assistance and educational support to members of Canada’s movie industry.

So if you’ve been waiting to catch one of the summer movies you missed, September 5 and 6 might be the weekend to do it.
