A-Rod & Dominican Republic Launch $1B Luxury Tourism Project at Playa Grande

Tourism Minister David Collado and former MLB star Alex Rodríguez have unveiled a US$1 billion+ investment in a new ultra-luxury tourism development at Playa Grande, located in the María Trinidad Sánchez province of the Dominican Republic.

Project Highlights:

  • Ultra-luxury hotels and real estate accommodations planned

  • Located in Playa Grande, already home to the Amanera resort and a Robert Trent Jones golf course

  • Backed by Discovery Land Company, known for elite, private residential communities

  • Aims to boost high-end tourism in Río San Juan and Cabrera

“This is a strong sign of investor confidence in the Dominican Republic’s economic and tourism climate,” said Minister Collado

Alex Rodríguez’s Role:

  • Rodríguez, who has Dominican roots, is co-leading the investment and development

  • Called the project “transformative,” with potential to attract global elites

  • Reinforces DR’s positioning as a world-class luxury destination
