Rauw Alejandro is facing fresh legal troubles tied to his 2022 album Saturno. According to Rolling Stone, Florida-based label BM Records has filed a lawsuit accusing the Puerto Rican star of failing to clear samples from several songs by reggaeton pioneer DJ Playero.

Interestingly, Playero himself isn’t behind the complaint — he actively collaborated on Saturno as both a producer and featured artist. Instead, BM Records claims ownership of much of his catalog, citing past agreements with Playero, including one as recent as 2007.

The suit points to four Saturno tracks:

  • “De Carolina†– allegedly samples “La Gente Sabe†and “Somos De Carolinaâ€

  • “Panties Y Brasieres†– allegedly samples “Camuflash†and “Camuflash Liveâ€

  • “Dejau’†– allegedly uses six Playero tracks

  • “Punto 40†– allegedly samples “Tengo Ina Punto 40â€

BM Records argues no valid licenses were obtained, calling the continued use of these works copyright infringement.

This isn’t BM’s first clash over Playero’s catalog. The company previously sued Bad Bunny over “Safaera,†reaching a settlement in 2023.

If BM Records prevails, Alejandro could face statutory damages of up to $150,000 per infringement, adding up to potentially massive penalties.
