Désiré Doué delivered a breakout performance, scoring his first senior international goals as France national football teamsecured a confident 3-1 win over Colombia national football team in a friendly match in Maryland.

The match wasn’t just big on the pitch—it was massive in the stands as well. Nearly 61,000 fans packed a sold-out Northwest Stadium for the “Road to 26” clash, marking the second-highest attended soccer match in the venue’s 28-year history.

France took control just before halftime, with Doué opening the scoring in the 29th minute after pouncing on a loose ball at the edge of the box. Shortly after, Marcus Thuram doubled the lead with a powerful header, giving the French side a strong advantage heading into the break.

Despite making 11 changes following their win over Brazil, France showcased impressive depth under manager Didier Deschamps. Veteran midfielder N’Golo Kanté captained the squad on his 35th birthday, leading a lineup filled with emerging talent.

France extended their lead early in the second half when Doué struck again, finishing off a sharp counterattack to make it 3-0. Colombia responded late through Jaminton Campaz, who netted his first senior international goal, but it proved to be only a consolation.

The match also featured appearances from stars like Kylian Mbappé, who came close to scoring as he continues to chase Olivier Giroud’s all-time scoring record for France.

With a mix of youth and experience, France once again showed the depth of their talent pool—while the electric atmosphere in front of nearly 61,000 fans highlighted the growing global excitement ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
