A tragic story has emerged involving Detective Alicia Stone, a 40-year-old NYPD officer who died just a week after undergoing a butt lift and liposuction procedure in Cali, Colombia.

Authorities say Stone was found unresponsive in her hotel room last Thursday and rushed to Fundación Valle del Lili Hospital, where she was pronounced dead an hour later. The cause of death was listed as “unspecified cardiac arrest.”

According to reports, Stone had undergone liposuction and a gluteal fat transfer on October 16. After the procedure, she was prescribed anticoagulants and pain medication and was staying in a hotel as part of her recovery process — not a medical facility, something that later shocked her family.

🕊️ Family Seeks Answers

Her husband, Michael Stone, told The Daily News that he received the devastating call from Colombia with almost no explanation.

“The doctor just called and told me my wife had passed away,” he said. “She didn’t even have any information… something doesn’t add up.”

Michael described Alicia as a dedicated officer, mother of three, and a perfectionist who had rapidly risen through the NYPD ranks — from patrol officer to Internal Affairs and eventually to Detective Second Grade.

“She was loved by her peers and deeply loved by her family,” he said. “We miss her so much.”

⚖️ Investigation Underway

Authorities in Colombia have launched an investigation into Stone’s death, while the NYPD has reportedly sent a representative to assist. Michael said he plans to request an independent autopsy once her body returns to the U.S.

“I need the facts of what happened,” he said.

The doctor who performed the procedure reportedly told him, “I’m so sorry. Your wife had some medical episode and they tried to save her.”

The incident underscores growing concerns about the risks of medical tourism, as more Americans travel abroad for lower-cost cosmetic procedures.
