Nike is once again celebrating Puerto Rican culture with a special sneaker release just in time for Puerto Rican Day festivities.
The sportswear giant has unveiled a new Puerto Rico-inspired version of its iconic Nike Shox R4, featuring a striking light blue colorway inspired by the original Puerto Rican flag created by Puerto Rican exiles in New York City in 1895.

According to Nike, the sneaker pays tribute to Puerto Rico’s history while incorporating modern design elements. The shoe features unique 3D-inspired details across the Swoosh, forefoot, and heel, along with special “PR” branding embedded into the signature Shox cushioning system.
Adding even more star power to the launch, Nike recruited Rauw Alejandro to front the campaign. The global Latin music superstar appears throughout the promotional images, further strengthening the connection between Puerto Rican culture, music, and fashion.
The release continues Nike’s tradition of honoring Puerto Rican heritage through limited-edition sneaker drops, which have become highly sought-after among collectors and members of the Puerto Rican community alike.
The timing is particularly significant as Puerto Rican communities across North America prepare for annual Puerto Rican Day celebrations and parades later this month.
The new “PR” Nike Shox R4 is scheduled to release on June 5 through select Nike retailers and is expected to generate strong demand from both sneaker enthusiasts and fans of Puerto Rican culture.
