One of the most iconic groups in Latin pop history is getting back together.

Menudo is celebrating its 50-year legacy with an official reunion tour bringing together seven former members from different eras of the legendary Puerto Rican boy band.

René Farrait, Roy Rosselló, Raymond Acevedo, Sergio Blass, Ralphy Rodríguez, Rubén Gómez and Robert Avellanet will hit the stage together for the Menudo 50th Anniversary Tour.

Before the Boy Band Boom, There Was Menudo

Formed in Puerto Rico in 1977, Menudo became an international phenomenon and helped create the blueprint for the modern boy band.

The group’s unique concept constantly introduced new young members, with more than 40 performers passing through Menudo over the years. Among its most famous alumni are Ricky Martin and Draco Rosa, who later went on to major solo careers.

Menudo also helped bring Latin pop to audiences around the world decades before today’s global explosion led by artists like Bad Bunny, Karol G and others.

“We’re proud to be pioneers,” Raymond Acevedo told the Associated Press while discussing the group’s place in Latin music history.

Menudomania Returns

Fans can expect plenty of nostalgia, choreography and classics including “Súbete a Mi Moto,” “Claridad” and “Quiero Ser.” The members have also teased a visual production that will take audiences through different eras of Menudo.

The six-show tour begins October 10 in Los Angeles before visiting Chicago, New York, Mexico City and Hollywood, Florida, and finishing December 12 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

There is currently no Toronto date announced.

Fifty years later, Menudomania is officially back — and for generations of Latino fans who grew up with their music, this reunion is going to hit differently.
