Lego Honors Day of the Dead with New Special Edition Set

Lego has just released a brand-new edition inspired by one of Mexico’s most important traditions — Día de los Muertos(Day of the Dead). The launch comes just ahead of the Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 celebrations, a holiday rooted in pre-Hispanic culture that honors loved ones who have passed away and is now cherished worldwide, including by many here in Toronto’s Latino community.

The new Lego collection features two models in one — a Lego Skull and a Lego Altar. With 231 pieces, the set highlights classic Day of the Dead symbols like marigolds (cempasúchil), papel picado (colorful paper banners), candles, flowers, and even food offerings like pan de muerto. One side of the build showcases a vibrant sugar skull, while the other reveals a mini altar complete with decorative touches.

Measuring 9 cm tall, 8 cm wide, and 10 cm deep, it’s a small but meaningful set that Lego enthusiasts and families can build together as both a fun activity and a cultural keepsake. The set’s design has already been praised for capturing both the festive and symbolic elements of the tradition — colorful, creative, and full of life.

Priced at 349 pesos in Mexico and $19.99 USD in the U.S., the set is also available online, making it accessible to families across North America, including right here in Canada.

For Toronto’s Mexican and broader Latino community, this launch is another example of how cultural traditions continue to inspire mainstream platforms — helping preserve heritage while sharing it with the world in a playful, interactive way.
