J Balvin and Valentina Ferrer have separated. Ferrer confirmed the news in a message shared on Instagram on September 16, ending days of speculation about their relationship.

“After sharing so many years and important moments together, José and I have decided to go our separate ways,” Ferrer wrote. She said the decision was made with love and respect for the family they have built, and asked for understanding as they navigate a personal moment.

Ferrer also made clear that their son, Río, remains at the centre of their lives. She said their priority is to continue supporting him with all their love. The couple welcomed Río in 2021.

The Colombian artist and Argentine model met when Ferrer appeared in the music video for Balvin’s “Sigo Extrañándote” in 2017. Their relationship began the following year, and they occasionally shared glimpses of their family life with fans.

Ferrer did not give a reason for the separation, and Balvin had not publicly commented on it at the time of the announcement. For now, the message they have shared is a request for respect and privacy as they move forward as parents to Río.
