Ice Spice is embracing her Dominican heritage in a major way. On Dec. 5, the Dominican-American rapper released “Thootie,” a fiery new collaboration with Dominican dembow star Tokischa — and it marks the first time Ice Spice has ever rapped in Spanish.

In a press statement, Ice Spice called the track “fun” and said it was special to finally show a new side of herself. She and Tokischa filmed the music video in the Dominican Republic, where Ice said she “definitely felt at home.”

Produced by longtime collaborator RiotUSA, “Thootie” is powered by a pulsing dembow beat, heavy bass, and a playful whistle woven into the production. Ice leans fully into her Dominican flair with bilingual bars like: “Rosadita el pelo y el pssy… I get money, me gustan los Chucky… ¿Qué lo que, Toki? Andamo’ rulin.”* Tokischa meets her energy bar for bar, delivering the gritty, mischievous flow she’s known for.

The music video — directed by Tokischa and Richard Cordones — showcases vibrant Dominican neighborhoods, dancers doing everyday activities like hanging laundry, and the duo riding in a car outfitted with a booming sound system. There’s even a cameo from Gigi, known from La Casa de Alofoke.

Tokischa said the collab had been a long time coming: “When she sent me ‘Thootie,’ it was instant… Not everyone who didn’t grow up in the DR can make a dembow hot like that.”

Ice Spice and Tokischa’s “Thootie” is now out everywhere — and it’s a full-circle cultural moment fans have been waiting for.
