Guatemala just delivered one of its biggest performances in recent memory.

La Bicolor absolutely dominated El Salvador 6–0 on Monday night in Guatemala City, picking up a massive three points in the Concacaf Nations League and bouncing back in emphatic fashion after losing 3–2 to Jamaica in its opening match.

Guatemala wasted almost no time getting started.

Darwin Lom opened the scoring in the 8th minute, before Rubio Rubín doubled the lead in the 28th. William Jehú Fajardo added another just minutes later, sending Guatemala into halftime up 3–0.

And they weren’t finished.

Jorge Aparicio made it 4–0 early in the second half before Fajardo struck twice more late in the match to complete his hat trick and seal the incredible 6–0 victory.

🇬🇹 A Huge Result for Guatemala

The victory gives Guatemala its first three points of the 2026–27 Nations League campaign and puts the team right back into the race to advance from Group B. The group also includes Honduras, Jamaica, Suriname, Martinique and El Salvador, with the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals.

It also represents a dramatic turnaround after Guatemala suffered a heartbreaking 3–2 defeat against Jamaica just three days earlier, conceding the deciding goal in stoppage time.

Guatemala’s next test comes quickly: Suriname on Friday, October 2, followed by another meeting with Suriname at home on October 5.

After putting six past one of its biggest Central American rivals, though, Guatemala suddenly has plenty of momentum.
