Tragedy has struck Colombia’s music world. Colombian regional music star Yeison Jiménez was reportedly among six people killed in a plane crash near Bogotá, according to local media reports.
The crash happened Saturday in the area between Paipa and Duitama, as confirmed in a statement by Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority (Aerocivil). The aircraft — registered as N325FA — was traveling to Medellín with six occupants onboard, including the pilot, co-pilot, and four passengers.

Local media outlets reported that all six people on board died, including Jiménez, though authorities have not yet officially confirmed the identities or released details on what caused the crash. Aerocivil said Bogotá’s Search and Rescue Coordination Center (SAR) detected an emergency signal after the aircraft’s emergency locator transmitter (ELT) activated in the crash area. Police and emergency responders were seen working at the scene.
Yeison Jiménez was one of the most recognizable voices in Colombia’s regional popular music movement, building a major national career over the past decade. His songs regularly collected millions of streams and helped define the modern sound of the genre, earning him a loyal following throughout the country.
In a heartbreaking detail that has resurfaced since the reports of his death, Jiménez once shared in an interview that he had recurring dreams about dying in a plane crash—making the news even more unsettling for fans.
As Colombia awaits official confirmation and more information from investigators, tributes are already beginning to pour in for an artist whose voice and impact will not be forgotten.
