The upcoming biopic Michael will bring the story of legendary pop icon Michael Jackson to the big screen, with his nephew Jaafar Jackson stepping into the role of the King of Pop.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film traces Jackson’s rise from his early days with The Jackson 5 to his record-breaking solo career that reshaped global pop music. The project features an all-star supporting cast including Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller, and Laura Harrier.

Early images from the film show Jaafar recreating some of Michael’s most iconic stage moments, including performances inspired by the Jacksons’ legendary 1984 Victory Tour. According to Fuqua, Jaafar’s resemblance and ability to capture Michael’s energy surprised the entire production team, especially considering it is his first acting role.

Beyond the family connection, Jaafar Jackson also brings Latin heritage to the project. His mother, Alejandra Oaziaza, is Colombian, giving the young performer roots in Latin America — an interesting cultural link as the film celebrates one of music’s most global icons.

The highly anticipated film will arrive in theaters April 24, 2026, promising a deep look at the life, artistry, and legacy of Michael Jackson.
