Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has emerged with the highest approval rating among Latin American presidents in September 2026, according to a new regional survey from CB Global Data.

Sheinbaum recorded a 69% positive approval rating, placing her ahead of El Salvador President Nayib Bukele, who registered 66.2%. Sheinbaum’s figure also represents an increase of 2.5 percentage points from August, when her approval stood at 66.5%.

Colombia’s President Abelardo de la Espriella placed third at 53.6%, followed by Peru’s Keiko Fujimori at 52.4% and Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader at 50.8%. Costa Rica’s Laura Fernández rounded out the group above or near the 50% mark with 49.7%.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva registered 48.5%, while Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa came in just behind him at 47.4%. Paraguay’s Santiago Peña received 45.5%, followed by Honduras President Nasry Asfura at 43.2%.

Milei Among the Lower-Rated Presidents

Argentina’s Javier Milei was further down the September ranking, recording 35.5% positive approval and 60.6% negative, placing him 14th among the 18 leaders measured.

At the bottom of the survey were Panama’s José Raúl Mulino at 32.1%, Venezuela’s Delcy Rodríguez at 28.8%, and Guatemala’s Bernardo Arévalo at 28.2%.

How the Survey Was Conducted

CB Global Data conducted the survey between September 7 and 11, 2026, covering 18 Latin American countries. The research used online questionnaires and quotas based on factors including gender, age, socioeconomic level and geographic location.

The figures represent CB Global Data’s specific survey methodology and samples, so they should be viewed as a snapshot of public opinion during the September polling period rather than a definitive measure of support across countries. 

For now, however, the September numbers show a notable shift at the top: Sheinbaum has moved ahead of Bukele in this month’s regional approval survey.
