Chile’s President Boric declares 3 days of national mourning after 3 police officers killed

Three police officers were tragically killed in a cowardly attack in southern Chile, prompting President Gabriel Boric to declare three days of national mourning. The incident occurred in Canete, Arauco province, where officers responded to three false emergency calls. They were ambushed in their vehicle with heavy-caliber weapons and subsequently burned. The region has a history of tensions between the state and the indigenous Mapuche people. President Boric condemned the attack and vowed to pursue the perpetrators.
