Weddings are already full of magical moments—but for one Iowa City bride, the dream went far beyond anything she could’ve imagined.
When Kelli Murray chose Camila Cabello’s heartfelt ballad “First Man” for her father-daughter dance, she never expected the global pop star to be there in person to sing it live. Yet that’s exactly what happened on Sept. 20 at Walker Homestead Farm and Winery.
Two TikTok videos capturing the surprise quickly went viral, racking up millions of views. In the clips, Cabello can be seen serenading the bride and her father, creating a memory that left the wedding guests—and the internet—stunned.
The day before her wedding, Murray bumped into Cabello at her hotel. After hearing the bride’s plans to use “First Man”for the dance, Cabello offered to perform it herself. “I’m really honored to be a part of this moment,” she told the crowd, adding that the father-daughter dance was extra special to her because she considers herself a “daddy’s girl.”
The song, which Cabello wrote about her own father, explores the deep bond between a daughter and the first man who ever loved her. Before starting, Cabello remarked that she could see the strong connection between Murray and her dad.
Guests recorded the performance and shared it online, where fans quickly flooded the videos with comments. Cabello herself even chimed in, writing: “I’m honored I was a part of your family’s special day, u guys are precious.”
For those unfamiliar, Cabello is a Grammy-nominated artist born in Cuba who skyrocketed to fame with her chart-topping hit “Havana” featuring Young Thug. She’s also behind mega-hits like “Never Be the Same” and “Señorita” with Shawn Mendes. Fresh off her Yours, C tour promoting her fourth studio album C,XOXO, Cabello wrapped up in São Paulo just days before the Iowa wedding surprise.
From hotel lobby encounter to viral wedding performance, Cabello turned one family’s milestone into a once-in-a-lifetime love story—and gave TikTok a moment that fans won’t soon forget.
