When Bad Bunny and Belinda hit the dance floor together in Puerto Rico, fans went into overdrive. The pair were caught sharing an intense perreito during Benito’s “No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí” residency, sparking rumors that music’s biggest urbano star and the Spanish-Mexican pop icon might be more than just colleagues.
The speculation made sense. After all, Bad Bunny’s admiration for Belinda isn’t new. Years ago, he shared a childhood photo holding the Cómplices Al Rescate soundtrack — the telenovela where Belinda played twin sisters Mariana and Silvana. Since then, he’s dropped her name more than once in his music: first in “Vou 787” and again in “Perro Negro” with Feid, where he references her directly. Belinda returned the shoutout earlier this year in her corrido tumbado track “La Cuadrada” with Tito Double P, name-dropping the reggaeton superstar in return.
So when Belinda finally joined Benito onstage in Puerto Rico, it felt like a full-circle pop culture moment. She even delivered the now-iconic line, “¡Acho, PR es otra cosa!” before the two got close while he sang the lyric that mentions her. The chemistry was undeniable, and the internet immediately ran with romance theories.
But Belinda quickly stepped in to set the record straight. After a fan account hinted at a possible relationship, she reportedly sent a DM asking for the post to be removed:
“I believe this post is in bad taste. Bad Bunny is a colleague of mine and I want to ask you to please remove this post that could incite hate.”
In other words, no romance here — just mutual respect between two artists who clearly admire each other’s work.
That doesn’t mean fans should be disappointed, though. The real story could be even bigger: now that Belinda and Bad Bunny have finally linked up in person, the chance of a future collaboration feels more likely than ever. And given both stars’ track records of hitmaking, that might be even more exciting than the dating rumors.
Bad Bunny’s residency in Puerto Rico continues Sept.5, and if the first week’s surprises are anything to go by, fans should expect more unforgettable moments.
