BARRIO – The celebration of Día de Muertos has grown to become a yearly tradition for Nike, with the brand releasing new styles around the Mexican holiday in October. Shout out to Nike for never overlooking cultural celebrations. For 2022, the Swoosh is releasing this new set of Air Force 1 and Dunk colourways.

According to Nike, the “Dia de Muertos” Air Force 1 Low draws inspiration from Pan de Muerto, which is a circular-shaped bread that’s typically baked for the holiday to symbolize the cycle of life and death. For the Dunk High, the upper features an intricate pattern that references several customary items found at ofrendas, which are the offerings placed at the altars that pay tribute to the deceased loved ones and help guide their souls back home.

Dropping alongisde the sneakers are various apparel pieces such as tees, a work jacket, a polo shirt and more that are also styled with festive designs.

Nike’s “Somos Familia” collection is slated to launch on October 22.
