Barrio Latin Music Festival a huge success

BARRIO – For the first time ever Toronto got its first Latin two day festival this past weekend…. and close to 10,000 people showed up over a span of two days.

The Barrio Latin Music Festival (BLMF) was held at Downsview Park with a star studded line up. International recording artists such as Jerry Rivera, Los Adolecentes, Rafaga, Xtreme, Rakim y Ken Y, and much more. The festival organizers did a great job with including local artists and DJ’s to show love to the city.

Mother Nature attempted to put a damper on the festivities late Sunday evening. It began to rain, and the threat of lightening paused the show for approximately one hour. Nobody went home. It was the most incredible thing that I’ve ever seen.

The rain had stopped, but the party did not!

When Nico P returned to advise the thousands in attendance that the show would resume, there was a roar.. then out came Chilean superstar Chris MJ, and the crowd went nuts. Then Rakim y Ken Y blessed the stage. That would have been the final act, but no they weren’t done. Toronto’s very own, Your Favourite Duo, Mechon and Itz Nico P took the stage and dropped the best Latin Reggaeton Set you can ever imagine. The people did not want to go home, BUT they had no choice.

We should also add, the Latin food was spectacular. The options were endless.

When we asked Kris Toma, if this event will happen next year, he said, ‘Claro q si’ ….. This was the the highlight of the summer. We will definitely be back.
