There’s some recent history between these two national teams, and Guatemalan fans have plenty of reasons to be excited.
At the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, Guatemala delivered one of the tournament’s biggest surprises, eliminating Canada in the quarterfinals after a dramatic penalty shootout.
The match finished 1–1 before Guatemala prevailed 6–5 on penalties, sending its supporters into celebration and securing a place in the semifinals.
Canada got a measure of revenge in January 2026, winning a closely contested friendly 1–0.
Now, the two countries are set to meet again, this time in Toronto, where Guatemala will be looking to put on another memorable performance.
Soccer is deeply rooted in Latin American culture, and few things bring a community together quite like supporting their national team.
Toronto is home to a vibrant Guatemalan community, and this match presents a great opportunity for families, friends and soccer fans to proudly represent their country.
Expect plenty of blue-and-white jerseys, Guatemalan flags and passionate supporters cheering from the stands.
For Toronto Latinos, this collaboration with Canada Soccer is another opportunity to connect our community through sports, culture and shared experiences.
Toronto Latinos is helping coordinate ticket sales for Section 104 at BMO Field, with special pricing available through this collaboration with Canada Soccer.
