Messi Effect: Inter Miami Draws 75,000+ Fans Again

The Messi effect in MLS is real—and it’s getting bigger every week.

Inter Miami CF just played in front of 75,824 fans at Empower Field at Mile High, marking the second-highest attendance in MLS regular season history. The match saw Lionel Messi deliver a statement performance, scoring twice and adding an assist in a 3–2 win over the Colorado Rapids.

This wasn’t a one-off.

For the third time this season, Inter Miami has drawn more than 70,000 fans—making them the first team in MLS history to hit that mark three times in a single campaign. From Denver to Baltimore to Los Angeles, one thing is clear: wherever Messi goes, the crowds follow.

And the numbers are staggering.

These massive attendances are happening in NFL stadiums, far exceeding the capacity of Inter Miami’s home ground, which holds just 26,700. It’s a reflection of demand that MLS simply can’t contain in traditional soccer venues.

The league has seen strong crowds before—especially with clubs like LAFC and Atlanta United—but Messi has taken things to another level. His arrival in 2023 didn’t just boost interest; it reshaped the scale of what’s possible.

With the 2026 World Cup around the corner and global stars continuing to arrive, MLS attendance records may not last long.

Because right now, this isn’t just growth.

It’s a takeover.
