Ryan Garcia is officially a world champion.

The 27-year-old star claimed the WBC welterweight title Saturday night in Las Vegas with a commanding unanimous decision over Mario Barrios. Garcia set the tone instantly, dropping Barrios in the opening seconds and controlling the bout from start to finish with sharp, precise combinations.

Though he eased off the gas late with a comfortable lead, the damage had already been done. Judges scored the fight 119-108, 120-107 and 118-109 in Garcia’s favor, sealing the biggest victory of his career.

“It feels good to finally be a world champion,” Garcia said after the fight. “It’s something I’ve been dreaming of since I was seven years old.”

The win marks a major milestone for Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs), who has endured a turbulent stretch filled with suspension and controversy. Now, his focus has already shifted to bigger challenges — including a potential showdown with WBO super lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson.

For Barrios (29-3-2), the loss follows another lackluster outing after his disputed draw with Manny Pacquiao last year.

Garcia, meanwhile, leaves Las Vegas with gold — and momentum.
