Blue Jays Fall Short in Game 6, Face Dodgers in Winner-Take-All Game 7

The Toronto Blue Jays will have to wait one more day to try and make history.

With a chance to clinch their first World Series title since 1993, the Jays fell 3–1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night at Rogers Centre, setting up a decisive Game 7 on Saturday in Toronto.

A three-run third inning from L.A. — highlighted by clutch hits from Will Smith and Mookie Betts — proved enough as Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered another stellar outing, holding the Jays to one run across six innings.

Toronto had its opportunities, including a bizarre ninth-inning play when Addison Barger’s potential game-tying hit got lodged under the outfield wall, forcing a ground-rule double and halting a rally that left Rogers Centre stunned.

“It’s a tough break,” manager John Schneider said. “We had our chances, but it just didn’t work out tonight.”

Now, it all comes down to one final game. Max Scherzer will start for Toronto, while the Dodgers may even turn to Shohei Ohtani at some point in relief.

“Three or four hours of mayhem,” Schneider said. “It’s gonna be fun.”

One last shot. One game for the championship.
