Vaughan, ON – June 2025 — A brand-new cultural celebration has arrived in the city of Vaughan, and it’s already sparking excitement across the GTA. ASADO, a Latin-inspired food and music festival, will make its sizzling debut in Vaughan this summer, bringing together community, culture, and culinary passion in one unforgettable event.
ASADO is named after the beloved South American barbecue tradition, but it goes far beyond grilled meats. The event is a bold celebration of Latin American heritage, offering a vibrant mix of live music, open-air cooking, local artisans, and family-friendly activities that reflect the spirit of the Latin diaspora.
“ASADO is about more than just food — it’s about gathering,” said founder and cultural producer Carlos Brito. “We wanted to create a space where people from all walks of life could come together and experience the warmth, flavour, and rhythm of Latin culture.”
🔥 Fire Meets Flavor
At the heart of ASADO is its live-fire cooking, where chefs from featured vendor, Copa Cabana Brazilian Steakhouse will showcase traditional grilling techniques. You will also find good eats from Colombia, Mexico, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina and more! Guests will be treated to a culinary journey across Latin America, with food trucks and vendors offering everything from empanadas to choripán, and wine, beer and cocktails.
🎶 Música Que Enciende
The festival’s soundscape will be just as rich as the menu. The main stage will feature an electrifying lineup of DJs, latin dancers, dance instructors, a salsa band and the first ever Chancla throwing contest. The vibes will turn Assembly Park into a block party by sunset.
🎨 Community and Culture
ASADO also shined a spotlight on the city’s diverse Latinx creative community. Local artists and vendors will fill a bustling market area with handmade crafts and jewelry. Meanwhile, kids can enjoy interactive workshops and face painting, making ASADO a multigenerational experience.
🌱 Rooted in Culture, Growing Locally
What sets ASADO apart is its deep commitment to cultural authenticity and community impact. The festival partnered with York University to ensure inclusive programming and accessibility, while also supporting newcomer entrepreneurs by hosting a contest where a free vendor booth was provided to a Latin business owner.
What’s Next?
Following its successful first year in 2025, organizers have scheduled a 2nd date later in the summer, with ambitions to grow the festival into a multi-day event that showcases more countries, more music, and even more flame-grilled goodness.
As the sun set on the festival’s Vaughan debut, one thing will be clear: ASADO has sparked a cultural movement — and it’s only just getting started.
