Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has revealed that his final contract demand to the Toronto Blue Jays was significantly lower than Juan Soto’s 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets—more than $100 million less but still close to a 15-year term. The Blue Jays did not disclose their highest offer, only stating it would have been the franchise’s largest-ever contract.

Despite his desire to stay in Toronto long-term, negotiations broke down before his self-imposed deadline at the start of spring training. Guerrero, who will make $28.5 million in 2025 after avoiding arbitration, now appears set to test free agency next offseason.

Coming off a strong 2024 season, Guerrero is betting on himself to secure a massive deal in free agency. His performance in 2025 will be closely watched, especially as he helps the Jays rebound from a last-place finish, with newly acquired Anthony Santander providing lineup support.
