Colombian-American singer-songwriter, Kali Chis is set to release her fourth studio album Orquideas; (orchids) the national flower of Colombia, this Friday, Jan.12.

The Grammy award-winning singer ended her “Red Moon in Venus” tour last September with a sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl. Riding on the success of the album, Kali Uchis seized the moment during the tour to unveil her track “Te Mata,” a sneak peek into her forthcoming album “Orquideas.”

Once the tour ended in October, Kali Uchis took to Instagram where she teased the release of her new album. The video is set in a mystical fantasy floral garden where someone uses an old remote to flip through channels on a vintage television. The screen first shows “Kali Uchis Album 4″ but quickly pans over to a language selection screen. After “Español” is selected the TV flashes “Orquideas” onto the screen where the teaser abruptly ends with a shot of Kali Uchis sitting on a mossy hill remote in hand.

Just two weeks after the teaser, Kali Uchis heightened anticipation by unveiling the complete tracklist. In a unique reveal, she shared a photo showcasing the tracklist tattooed on her back. The list hinted at exciting collaborations with Peso Pluma, El Alfa, JT, KAROL G, and Rauw Alejandro.

The artist revealed her album will feature genres such as Latin Disco, House, Mariachi, and other genres typically not seen in mainstream media. Currently, three songs of “Orquideas” have been released: “Muñekita,” and “Te Mata,” along with “Labios Mordidos” which has charted on the Billboard Top 100 Chart.

Having been sent an advanced copy of the album we can tell that Kali in her comfort zone for many of the 14 songs in this unskippable album. From harmonic and soft, to merengue, dembow and reggaeton, this album has it all.

There’s definitely a lot more energy here than there was with Kali’s last album. This time it sounds like she wants to join her fellow Spanish speaking counterparts as one of the world’s biggest selling superstars. That’s entirely possible with “Orquideas”.

For over a decade, Kali Uchis has been dedicated to writing and producing music while remaining deeply connected to her Colombian heritage. Rooted in her Colombian background and upbringing, she drew inspiration for her second all-Spanish album, “Orquideas.” In a press release accompanying the album’s release, Kali Uchis expressed her aspiration to “redefine the way we view Latinas in music.” Through her artistic journey, Kali Uchis is actively paving the way for Latinas in the world of music.
