Luis Suárez will continue playing alongside Lionel Messi at Inter Miami for at least another year, as the Uruguayan striker has signed a one-year contract extension for the 2024 season. While financial details weren’t disclosed, Suárez earned $1.5 million in his first season with Inter Miami, where he scored 20 goals in the MLS regular season and led the team with 25 goals across all competitions.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Suárez stated, “I’m very happy to continue for another year and enjoy being here with this fanbase, which feels like family.” His extension ensures that Inter Miami’s Barcelona-era core—Suárez, Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba—remains intact. Newly appointed coach Javier Mascherano, another former Barcelona teammate, further strengthens the group.
Suárez’s impact was instrumental in Inter Miami’s record-breaking 2024 season, which saw the team achieve 74 points, a .765 winning percentage, and the Supporters’ Shield. However, their playoff run ended in the first round against Atlanta United. At 38, Suárez continues to demonstrate his elite capabilities, with Inter Miami’s football operations president Raul Sanllehi praising his leadership and performance as critical to the team’s success.
A decorated player with an illustrious career at clubs like Liverpool, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid, Suárez has also represented Uruguay in four World Cups, earning numerous individual accolades, including the Premier League Player of the Season and FIFA Club World Cup Golden Ball.
