Mattel has released a Barbie Tribute Collection doll honoring Rita Moreno ahead of her 93rd birthday. The doll celebrates the legendary performer’s groundbreaking career, including her status as an EGOT winner (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). It features a dress inspired by the iconic gown Moreno wore to the 1962 Oscars, where she became the first Latina to win an Academy Award for her role as Anita in West Side Story.

Mattel collaborated with Moreno to ensure the doll reflects her likeness and highlights her cultural impact. The company praised Moreno as a trailblazer for Latinas in entertainment and a fierce advocate for representation. In addition to her EGOT achievements, Moreno’s accolades include a Golden Globe, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the National Medal of Arts, and a Kennedy Center Honor.

The Barbie Tribute Collection, launched in 2021, celebrates influential women like Lucille Ball, Vera Wang, and Laverne Cox. The Rita Moreno Barbie went on sale November 20, honoring her legacy and inspiring future generations.
