A person of interest has been identified in the disappearance of 20-year-old Sudiksha Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh student who went missing on March 6 during spring break in Punta Cana. Surveillance footage shows her leaving the Riu República Hotel with three others at 4:15 a.m. and entering the beach area. The man accompanying her is believed to be the last person to see her.

Authorities, including the FBI and Dominican police, are investigating inconsistencies in witness statements. The Dominican president stated the case is being treated as an accident, citing a witness claim that waves swept her away. However, Konanki’s father suspects foul play, noting that her phone and wallet were left behind—unusual for her. Authorities have deployed drones, helicopters, and search teams along the coast, while the hotel chain and government agencies continue to assist in the investigation.
