Panama plans to start deportation flights for migrants who crossed the Darien jungle in 2-3 months, funded by the U.S. under a new agreement. President Jose Raul Mulino is working with the U.S. to manage migration through the Darien Gap, which saw a record 500,000 crossings last year. So far this year, around 213,702 migrants, many of them children, have crossed the jungle. Migration is a key issue in the upcoming U.S. elections, with Donald Trump promising stricter border controls and mass deportations.
