Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced nearly $40 million in funding today aimed at revitalizing Wasaga Beach, home to the world’s longest freshwater beach.

Key investments include:

  • $25 million to rebuild the Nancy Island Historic Site, which commemorates the HMS Nancy and its role in the War of 1812.

  • $11 million for road upgrades to support both tourism and a planned 3,000-home development.

  • $2 million to revitalize downtown Wasaga Beach.

Additionally, the province will transfer part of the provincially owned beachfront to the town, with the condition it remains publicly accessible.

Tourism Minister Stan Cho also announced a provincial marketing campaign to spotlight destinations like Wasaga Beach as part of Ontario’s broader tourism recovery.
