Italian luxury brand Moschino has appointed Argentine designer Adrián Appiolaza as its new artistic director, praising his “explosive creativity” and passion. Appiolaza, 51, expresses his readiness to lead the brand into a new era while honoring the legacy of Moschino’s founder, Franco Moschino, known for his theatrical designs.

Appiolaza succeeds Davide Renne, who tragically passed away in November 2023 shortly after assuming the creative helm. Renne had taken over from Jeremy Scott, who resigned earlier that year after a decade with the brand. Appiolaza, formerly with Spanish label Loewe, will debut his vision for Moschino’s Autumn-Winter 2024/2025 women’s collection during Milan’s Women’s Fashion Week on February 22.

Massimo Ferretti, executive chairman of Moschino’s parent company, Aeffe, praises Appiolaza’s dynamic energy and enthusiasm, highlighting his impressive tenure at Loewe and previous experiences with top fashion houses like Chloé and Louis Vuitton. Appiolaza’s appointment marks a significant moment for Moschino as he takes charge of the brand’s women’s, men’s, and accessories lines.
