Mexico is massively expanding its biggest seaport, Manzanillo, aiming to make it the busiest in Latin America. Even though Trump’s trade wars are making the global economy shaky and the IMF predicts a small downturn for Mexico in 2025, President Claudia Sheinbaum is betting on big infrastructure projects like this one to keep the economy strong. Manzanillo already handles a lot of cargo, mostly from Asia, and port officials say U.S. tariffs aren’t really hurting their business. The upgrade should be done by 2030 and will help boost trade and support Sheinbaum’s broader plan to strengthen Mexico’s economy.
