Alejandro Arcos, the mayor of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, was found decapitated, days after taking office. His murder intensifies pressure on President Claudia Sheinbaum’s new administration to address cartel-related violence. Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfuch confirmed that Arcos was traveling alone for a meeting with members of the Los Ardillos gang when he was killed.
