A Massachusetts barber has found himself cutting the hair of some of the biggest stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Coco Fernandes, owner of Mobar Cuts in Waltham, Massachusetts, was called to the France team hotel after rising star Désiré Doué reportedly told teammates, “We found the best.”
Soon, Coco was lining up global superstars including Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Marcus Thuram.
But the story didn’t stop there.
Mbappé was reportedly so impressed with Coco’s work that he recommended him to his close friend — and next World Cup opponent — Morocco star Achraf Hakimi. Not long after, Coco was cutting players from both the French and Moroccan national teams, along with members of Morocco’s staff.
For the Massachusetts barber, it was another major moment in a career that has already included NBA stars and celebrities. Coco has previously worked with names including Kyrie Irving and Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum.
Still, even an experienced celebrity barber admitted that working with football’s biggest global stars felt different.
“When I realised these were global superstars, it almost became a little more intimidating,” Fernandes said. “I was able to stay calm. I really take pride in my craft, symmetry. Being able to deliver a piece of my system to them makes me feel like I have a part in their performance.”
Now, as France and Morocco prepare for a massive World Cup showdown, one barber can say he has helped keep stars on both sides looking sharp.
Not a bad World Cup run for a barber from Massachusetts.
