BARRIO (Marca) – Mateo Messi might just end up filling the magical boots of his superstar father Lionel Messi after scoring a goal his father would be proud of.

The Argentina national team captain has always insisted that his second-born son Mateo is a soccer fanatic, and this latest action proves that he has the best chance of following his dad in becoming a future star.

The youngster, who joined Inter Miami’s youth team after his father’s move to MLS, scored a great goal as he executed a brilliant bicycle kick to find the back of the net. The ball was launched forward to the edge of the box and, facing the other way, the eight-year-old acrobatically struck the ball over the goalkeeper, who could only watch as the ball bounced over the line.

The technique shown in the move would appear to confirm that Leo’s faith in his middle son is well-placed, although it is still early days in his budding career.

Inter Miami decided to upload the video to social media and show Mateo’s tremendous strike to the world on TikTok. It wasn’t long before the video clip became a viral hit, with fans registering their excitement about the boy’s talent.

There are shades of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner in the manner of which Mateo scored. He showed excellent composure and an impressive level of technical ability to hit the ball.

But having the confidence and self-belief to pull off a goal of that kind suggests Messi might have passed down some of his unique talent to his son.

Messi’s jaw-dropping home also features a cinema, golf and racing simulators, which offers perfect downtime opportunities for his family.
