A 56-year-old man from Texas, Daniel John Valtier, was arrested in Miami Beach for allegedly stalking singer Shakira. The security director for the celebrity provided recordings and social media posts made by Valtier, who claimed to be married to Shakira and even described a business venture with her. He sent packages to her home and made false statements about her personal life. Shakira confronted Valtier, expressing concern about how he obtained her personal information. On the day of the arrest, Valtier was found at Shakira’s property after not paying a taxi fare and insisting someone at her home would cover it. He was charged with stalking, defrauding, and theft, with a bond set at $100,000 and ordered to stay away from Shakira. Valtier insisted she was his “wife” during his court appearance.
