BARRIO (Marca) – Lionel Messi is gearing up for his first full MLS campaign with Inter Miami, set to kick off on February 21 against Real Salt Lake.

The regular season consists of 34 games, but Messi will miss at least seven due to national team commitments, aligning with FIFA international breaks and the Copa America 2024.

Despite arriving at Inter Miami for the Leagues Cup and winning with the team, Messi’s impact in the MLS regular season was limited to six games.

With the new term on the horizon, he will be joined by former Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez, adding to the excitement surrounding Inter Miami’s prospects.

Which games with Messi miss?

Messi’s absence will be felt in key clashes against DC United, NY Red Bulls, Philadelphia Union, Columbus Crew, Nashville, Charlotte, and FC Cincinnati.

These unavoidable national team commitments will see him unavailable for crucial moments in Inter Miami’s campaign, potentially affecting the team’s performance in those matchups.

Here is the list of confirmed Inter Miami games that Lionel Messi will miss in the 2024 MLS season:

  • Matchday 5: DC United (March 16).
  • Matchday 6: NY Red Bulls (March 23).
  • Matchday 19: Philadelphia Union (June 15).
  • Matchday 20: Columbus Crew (June 19).
  • Matchday 21: Nashville (June 29).
  • Matchday 22: Charlotte (July 3).
  • Matchday 23: FC Cincinnati (July 6).
