December 5, 2025

The road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup is officially underway. At a star-studded ceremony at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center, FIFA revealed the full lineup of the 12 groups that will shape the expanded tournament across Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

The three host nations already knew their group positions — Mexico in Group A, Canada in Group B, and the United States in Group D — but the draw confirmed their opponents. Notably, Mexico will open the World Cup in the inaugural match against South Africa.

Latin America’s Path Through the Groups

Only one all–Latin American matchup appears in the group stage: Brazil vs. Haiti in Group C. Elsewhere, the region spreads across the tournament:

  • Paraguay lands in Group D

  • Ecuador in Group E

  • Uruguay in Group H

  • Argentina in Group J

  • Colombia in Group K

  • Panama in Group L

Bolivia still has a chance to qualify through the inter-confederation playoffs. If they defeat Suriname (March 26, 2026) and then Iraq (March 31, 2026), they would join Group I.

2026 World Cup Groups
