“Intense, unpredictable, dramatic, magical, authentic, and unique.” That’s how Karol G sums up her new album Tropicoqueta—and honestly, that’s also the perfect way to describe the jaw-dropping telenovela-inspired teaser she just dropped to promote it.

In a nostalgic and wildly entertaining move, the Colombian superstar brings together some of the biggest legends in Mexican soap opera history for a mini Spanish-language drama packed with love, betrayal, and over-the-top theatrics. The short clip opens with Karol lovingly gazing at an old photo of Ricky Martin in his novela prime—cue the sighs and flashbacks.

Next up, we see Anahí (yes, from Rebelde) heartbroken and equally infatuated with Martin, setting the stage for an epic showdown. Things heat up when Ninel Conde—reprising her role as the fierce and flirty Alma Rey—appears in full bustier glam. But the drama hits its peak when none other than Soraya Montenegro (aka the iconic villain from María la del Barrio), played by Itatí Cantoral, storms onto the screen wielding a knife and pure rage.

And yes—she delivers the line:
“¿Qué están haciendo? ¡Con mi hija no te metas, maldita lisiada!”
(“What are you doing? Don’t mess with my daughter, you d— cripple!”)
Soap fans, scream with us.

Karol and Anahí even throw down in a full-blown hair-pulling fight, before the telenovela universe expands even further with Gaby Spanic returning as La Usurpadora and Azela Robinson joining in to recreate a scene that fans immediately compared side-by-side online.

On Instagram, Karol shared behind-the-scenes photos, gushing over the experience:
“A dream come true… You marked our lives with each of your characters. Thank you, iconic queens. An honor to share space with you!”

Tropicoqueta, dropping June 20, marks Karol G’s fifth studio album and features 20 new tracks, including collabs with Marco Antonio Solís, Greeicy, Mariah Angeliq, and more.

Known for matching her hair color to her musical eras, Karol revealed to TODAY.com that she’s embracing a more natural look this time around. After going bold with pink hair for Mañana Será Bonito (2023), she says this chapter is about stripping things back.

“I just went back to my natural hair color,” she explained. “There’s so much happening right now, and I wanted to be my most natural, original, authentic, and genuine self.”

With Tropicoqueta, it looks like we’re about to get Karol G in her rawest, realest form—telenovela theatrics and all.
