J Balvin Confirms He Won’t Join Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl — But Says He’ll Be There to Support

J Balvin has officially put the rumors to rest — he will not be appearing as a surprise guest during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show next month.

After reconnecting publicly during a reunion in Mexico City, fans started speculating the two collaborators might take the stage together again on one of the biggest platforms in entertainment. But in a new interview with TMZ, Balvin quickly shut the idea down.

“Oh no…” he said, before making it clear that the spotlight belongs to Bad Bunny. Instead, Balvin said he’ll be at the Super Bowl in the crowd, supporting Benito and hoping he “kills it” on stage. Balvin also shared that rebuilding their friendship wasn’t instant — it “took time” — but now that they’re both “grown men,” he called it “beautiful” that they’re on good terms again.

Balvin also addressed the backlash Bad Bunny has received since being announced as the halftime performer, saying Latino artists are used to doubters — but this moment is bigger than criticism.

“We as a culture are taking over the world,” he said, adding that Bad Bunny is already one of the biggest superstars on the planet — and this performance is another chance to show the world what Latinos are made of.

The reunion comes after years of tension between the artists, rooted partly in Balvin’s public issues with Residente. But last month, fans celebrated a major moment when Bad Bunny and Balvin reunited onstage for the first time in nearly four years, performing their OASIS-era hits like “La Canción,” “Que Pretendes,” and “Si Tu Novio Te Deja Sola.”

Even without a Super Bowl cameo, one thing is clear: Latin music is front and center — and Bad Bunny is about to make history.
