Highway 407 ETR will implement new toll rates, additional toll zones, and vehicle classifications starting January 1, 2025. These changes include:
Toll Rate Adjustments
- Light Vehicles: Toll increases of 3–14 cents per kilometer depending on the zone and time of travel.
- Introduction of 12 toll zones, up from the current 4, to better manage traffic flow.
New Vehicle Classifications
- Motorcycles: 0.8x the light vehicle rate.
- Medium Vehicles: 1.5x the light vehicle rate, including larger pickups, Sprinter-style vans, and towing vehicles.
- Heavy Single: 2x the light vehicle rate.
- Heavy Multiple: 3x the light vehicle rate.
Fee Changes
- Most transponder users will see an average increase of $8 in their monthly bills.
- The annual transponder lease will rise to $29.50 plus tax, with additional transponders costing $11.95 plus taxeach.
Toll Zones and Time-of-Use Rates
- Toll rates vary by time of day and zone, ranging from the mid-30s to mid-80s (cents per kilometer).

Reason for Changes
The highway operator aims to alleviate gridlock in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) while maintaining free-flowing traffic.
