Guatemala’s most wanted drug suspect caught in Mexico

Aler Baldomero Samayoa, accused of leading the drug trafficking group Los Huistas, was arrested in Mexico for allegedly smuggling US-bound cocaine from South America to Mexican cartels. His capture resulted from joint efforts by Guatemala, the US, and Mexico. He is currently in a Guatemala City jail awaiting extradition to the US. The US embassy hailed his arrest as a major step in the fight against drug trafficking. Samayoa, 58, stated he would accept the charges to expedite the process.
