The estate of Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug queen, settled its lawsuit against Netflix for unauthorized use of family images and likenesses. Blanco’s son, Michael, and his wife, Marie, filed the suit to block the release of the limited series “Griselda.” They claimed the show used their “private artistic literary work” without permission or credit. The complaint was dismissed with prejudice, meaning it can’t be refiled. Despite the lawsuit, the series creator, Eric Newman, remained undeterred, stating they had a specific story to tell and that others could tell their own versions. Michael Blanco, after viewing the series, described the experience as “very emotional.”
