TORONTO (Barrio) – According to Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, gas prices in the Greater Toronto Area could rise again this week, after surpassing a record high previously set in March of this year.
Prices are expected to drop by one cent today to 190.9 cents per litre, matching the record set on March 10. By Friday, gas prices in the region are expected to set a new record of 195.9 cents per litre…. And after the long weekend, we can expect to pay over $2 per litre. SMH
In a tweet Wednesday, McTeague said record prices at the pump are being felt across the country, as a result of a weak Canadian dollar, “higher taxes and Canada’s narrow-minded decision to kill pipelines to our coastlines.”
McTeague told Global News on Tuesday that he expects gas prices will “remain very high for the summer,” and “possibly into the new year.”
