Toronto Outdoor Picture Show 2026 is officially returning this summer, bringing 19 free outdoor movie screenings to parks across Toronto from June 26 to August 23.

The beloved summer tradition will once again transform Christie Pits Park, Corktown Common, and Bell Manor Park into giant open-air cinemas where thousands of movie lovers gather with blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks for free screenings under the stars.

This year’s festival theme is “Going Places,” with films centered around journeys, adventures, travel, and movement across cities, countries, time, and even space. Organizers say the lineup will explore stories about exploration and unexpected experiences, fitting perfectly with the energy of a summer city festival season.

While the full schedule is expected to be released on May 20, organizers have already revealed the opening weekend lineup at Christie Pits Park. The festival kicks off June 26 with Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, followed by One of Them Days on June 27, and a Toronto premiere screening of Güeros on June 28. Canadian short films will also screen before each feature presentation.

Opening night will also feature a special in-person appearance from filmmaker and actor Matt Johnson alongside co-star Jay McCarrol.

Adding to the summer atmosphere, organizers say the opening films were selected to reflect major cities connected to this summer’s international soccer tournaments, including Toronto, Los Angeles, and Mexico City.
